Randall Dean Nieukirk, 68, of Washington passed away unexpectedly at 1:15pm Saturday, November 3, 2018, at his home.
Randy was born December 26, 1949, in Peoria to Jack A. and Mildred Samms Nieukirk. On July 24, 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Scotti Waddell in East Peoria.
He is survived, by his wife, Scotti, of Washington; children, Randy Nieukirk of Chicago and BJ (Jason) Henderson of Washington; his grandson, Evan Dean Henderson; siblings, Jack (Gaye) Nieukirk, Sandy Fisher, Connie (Chuck) Bradle; sister-in-law, Alice Nieukirk; and all the extended family he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Nieukirk; and a brother-in-law, Ray Fisher.
Randy, also known as “Nieuk”, enjoyed life to its fullest. He never missed an opportunity to share a joke, spend time with family, show kindness to someone who needed it, or (in his own words) “Scot, I’ll make your dreams come true.” He knew how to have a good time and how to work hard, whether it was building something for someone else, throwing a party, or working on cars. Randy retired from Caterpillar, Inc., in 1999 but kept busy with his framing business, R & D Builders, and driving a shuttle for OSF. He loved the social interaction with everyone he encountered while driving the shuttle. Above all else, he was a loving companion to his wife, dad to his kids, and Papa to his grandson.
Visitation will be 4 to 6pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington on Thursday, November 8, 2018. A funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will be at 11:00am Friday, November 9, 2018, at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northwoods Community Church.
