Mike McSweeney, 75, of Washington, passed away at 12:30 am Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018 at his home.
He was born May 19, 1943 in Peoria to Thomas and Clarabelle Pepple McSweeney. He married Beth Howell in Peoria on June 29, 1963. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Jeffrey (Mary) McSweeney of Peoria; daughter, Debbi (Keith) Draeger of Morton; five grandchildren, Stephen, Katelynn, and Benjamin Draeger, and Cameron and Quincy McSweeney; one great-grandson, Lincoln Draeger; and brother-in-law, Larry Brandt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Patricia “Patty” Volmer.
Mike was a 1961 graduate of Spalding High School. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 39 years in scheduling and marketing before retiring.
He previously owned and operated Kings Court, Jesters Inn, McSweeney’s on the Square, and Off the Wall. He loved Corvettes and owned 29 over his lifetime.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington and Knights of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his church, or TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter in Pekin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, Oct. 3rd at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John Steffen officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
