WASHINGTON – Martin Eugene Neubauer, 80, of Washington, IL, died at 9:46 am Monday, November 19, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Born on February 15, 1938 in McDowell, IL, to Henry Lewis and Leila Catherine Green Neubauer, he married Catherine Ann Tammen on June 12, 1965 in Pontiac, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are 3 children; Melody Lynn Harris of Peoria, IL, John Michael Neubauer of Indianapolis, IN, and Jennifer (Todd) Lowery of Gridley, IL, and 3 grandchildren; Sophia Ann Lowery, KimberlyGallion, and David Woodward. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Gordon Neubauer of Elwood, IL and Fred Neubauer of Palm Springs, CA, and 1 sister, Janet Johnson of Ellensburg, WA.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dorothy Grimes, and 1 brother, Russell Neubauer.
He worked as a Pressman at Wayne Printing in Peoria for many years. He later worked as a bus driver at City Lift in Peoria for 8 years and Washington Community High School for 8 years.
Martin was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington where he previously served as an Elder and taught Sunday school. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, and MG cars.
Services will be at 11 am Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Pastor Thomas L. Heren will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with an additional visitation from 10-11 am Saturday at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date.
