Mark E. Kohorst, 64, of Washington, passed away at 7:25pm on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home.
Mark was born August 5, 1953 in Springfield to Frank and Jacqueline Messersmith Kohorst. He married Patricia Duke on December 7, 1974 in Galesburg; she survives.
Also surviving are their children, Erin (Stephen) Young of Washington, Anthony (Lindsay) Kohorst of Washington, and Patrick (Nikole) Kohorst of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Emerson, Jackson, Whitney, Brayden, Maxwell, Genevieve, and Annie; and siblings, Toni (Michael) Miller, Michael (Karen) Kohorst, and Diana Schoeneck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, William Orce; and a brother-in-law, Ken Schoeneck.
The party didn’t start until Mark arrived; he had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, whether it was duck hunting, watching a Bears or Cardinals game, or getting a round of golf in. Mark cherished his family, especially his grandkids, and had an unshakeable faith. He also enjoyed working as a compliance officer for the State of Illinois for many years.
Mark’s family will receive friends from 3-6:00pm Monday, May 14, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory, Washington. A memorial service will begin at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WHIP or TAPS.
