Marie B. Godar, 86, of Washington, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Marie was born on July 15, 1931 in Peoria, IL to Valentine and Regina Schwerer Schonberger. She married James N. Godar on June 26, 1954 in Peoria, IL; he preceded her in death on November 24, 2000. Her parents, two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
She is survived by four sons, Michael of Washington; David (Lissa) of Murray, KY, Tony (Kelly) of Delavan, and Mark (Laurie) of Washington. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kayce of Washington, Grant (Ruth) of Springfield, Craig of Delavan; Katie (Donnie) Dixon, Adam, and Aaron of Murray, KY; and two great-grandchildren; and well as a brother, Joe (Mary) Schonberger of Rome, IL; and sister-in-law, Patricia Schonberger of Peoria.
Marie was an Illinois Bell Telephone Company employee from 1948 to 1954. A resident of Washington, IL since 1957, she was a member and volunteer of St. Patrick’s Church and School where she had served in Eucharistic and Pastoral Care Ministry.
She was a strong supporter and protector of the rights of the unborn, a volunteer and a member of many organizations that supported her principles.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, with Fr. Stephen Willard officiating. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the Church on Saturday. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
