Fred R. Clause, 85, of 905 Creve Coeur Avenue, Creve Coeur, died at 7:50 AM, on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at his residence.
He was born on October 10, 1920 in Sweet Spring, Missouri to Sant and Minnie Hill Clause. He married Ida Ruth Preston on May 4, 1955 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death in May 1994.
Surviving are 3 stepdaughters, Bobbie (William) Straker of Pekin, IL, Mary E. (John) Smith of Morton, IL , and Barbara (Richard) Lutton of Three Oaks, MI; 2 sisters, Amy Martin of Marshall, MO, and Edna (Raymond) Vollrath of Creve Coeur, IL; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Bill, Joe, and Jim, one sister, Daisy, and one grandson, Albert Meldon.
He was a WWII Veteran with the Army serving from 1940 to 1945. He spent 2 years in the Aleutian Islands.
He was a Machinist for Caterpillar, Inc. where he worked for 30 years.
He was a member of UAW Local #974
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 7, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home at 444 East Washington Street in East Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Alan Newhall will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria, IL.
