Darlene Ann Feser, 83, of Washington, passed away at 3:06 pm Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 19, 1934 in Davenport, IA to John S. and Dorothy A. Hiem Feser. They preceded her in death.
Surviving is her son, John Michael (Kathy) Feser of Morton; daughter, Amy (Matt) Sons of Washington; 5 grandchildren, Brittanie Parker, Elizabeth Glumm, Brandon Glumm, Susan Feser, Sarah Feser; and one sister, Karen Ganz.
Darlene was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria, IL. She then went on to receive her Master of Science in Nursing from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. In 1982, Darlene and her sister, Karen, founded Sentimental Journey on the Square in Washington, IL which she ran until she retired in 1996.
Darlene was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, spending many summers camping and hiking with her family in the Pacific Northwest. Darlene loved animals, especially the many dogs she had throughout her adult life.
Music was also an important part of Darlene’s life. She learned to play the piano at a young age, enjoyed playing the organ and was an avid collector of music boxes. After she retired and moved to Palm Desert, California she became a member of the Sun City Singers where she served as the group’s president for several years.
Darlene was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to TAPS No Kill Animal Shelter in South Pekin.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 pm Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 at Crossroads United Methodist Church. Deiters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
