Betty Doudera Kaufmann, 58, of Metamora, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria into the loving arms of her savior Jesus Christ.
Betty was born December 14, 1960 in Peoria to Kenneth and Shirley Winegarner Doudera. On August 1, 1981, she married Gregory Kaufmann at Sunnyland Christian Church in Washington.
Surviving are her husband, Greg; their children, Alesia (Brad) Haley of East Peoria and Nathan (Amy) Kaufmann of Germantown Hills; four grandchildren, Jacob, Jameson, Isabella, and Gabriella; her parents, Ken and Shirley Doudera; siblings, Sherry Anderson, James Doudera, and Carol (Dan) Parish; and the extended family she cherished.
Betty enjoyed working as a medical office assistant at Valley Forge Family Physicians for many years and was an active member of Sunnyland Christian Church. She was a quilter, making countless beautiful quilts for friends and family and getting together for ‘quilting class’ to visit and work on projects. Baking and candy making at the holidays also brought her great joy. She loved being able to prepare and hand deliver the special treats she crafted.
She lived life to the fullest despite her Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis over 25 years ago; she was an encourager and companion to newly diagnosed patients. Betty was a light to all her knew her and she will be missed dearly.
A funeral service for Betty will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 28, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service. Pastor Evan Williams will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sunnyland Christian Church, Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
