Peoria--Isabel May Davies, 85, of Washington formerly of Peoria, died at 12:40 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Washington Christian Village. She was born on May 3, 1924 in Bideford, Devon, England to John Henry and Lillian (Potter) Cornish. She married Fred Davies on April 17, 1967 in Peoria. He preceded her in death in November, 1995. Known by her friends and family as “Aunt May” she is survived by two nephews Phil (Chris) Harvey of Peoria; Roger (Bev) Harvey of New Buffalo, MI; and three great nieces Kelly (Michael) Harvey Butler of Albertson, NY, Dr. Allison Harvey of St. Louis, MO and Tracy (Craig) Harvey Kurtz of Irvine, CA. May immigrated to America after she served in the British Army during WWII. She became a U.S. Citizen on September 26, 1972 and worked as a dietician at the Bartonville State Hospital until it closed. May was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Harvey and her brother Edward Cornish. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday November 9 at the Salvation Army located at 2903 W. Nebraska Ave. in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded.
