Name: Harold Gene Hill Date: August 11th, 1950 - August 30th, 2009 Obituary: EAST PEORIA—Harold Gene Hill, 59, of East Peoria died at his residence at 1:30 AM on Sunday, August 30, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 11, 1950 in Glendale, CA to Howard Louis and Leila Loetta Chart Hill, he married Lori Lee Nelson on June 10, 2000 in East Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Robert G. (Molly) Hill of Peoria Heights, Linda A. (Bill) Murphy of Brimfield, Jeremiah J. Walton of East Peoria, and Nicole M. (Michael) Crawford of Creve Coeur; 4 grandchildren, Nicole and Luke Murphy and Pierce and Zoey Hill; his mother-in-law, Glenda Nelson of East Peoria; 7 siblings, George (Bruna) Melloy of Lee Summit, MO, Shirley (Wayne) Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Mary George of Bettendorf, IA, Dennis (Pat) Melloy of East Peoria, IL, Terry (Shirley) Melloy of Melbourne, FL, Kathy Tanner of Peoria Heights, IL, and Sharon (Artie) Fowler of Hanna City, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Harold was a professional truck driver for his entire working career. He also served as a volunteer fire fighter in Peoria Heights. Harold was a lifetime Chicago Cubs fan. His love for the outdoors, fishing and hunting, was exceeded only by his love for family. A memorial service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment of cremated remains will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to the Heindrichson Radiation Center at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
