WASHINGTON – Ann Bockler, 88, formerly of Washington, IL, passed away at 4:25 pm on Friday, August 21, 2009 in Metamora, IL.
She was born on April 17, 1921, and moved to the Peoria area in 1938. Ann entered Proctor School of Nursing and obtained her Registered Nursing Degree in 1941. She married Harold E. Bockler in 1942 and then moved to San Francisco, CA, where he was based with the U.S. Coast Guard. Her professional career began at the University of California San Francisco Research Hospital where she enjoyed working until returning to Washington, IL.
Ann then worked with her husband for the next 30 years at Bockler Excavating. When retired, they moved to Fort Myers, FL, where they lived for 30 years.
Her greatest love was her family and friends. She was an active member and President of the Ladies of St. Jude, where she touched many lives. She was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington and the Washington Nurses club for many years. She participated as a volunteer in Hospice while in Fort Myers.
Ann is survived by her husband, Harold Bockler of Metamora, IL one son, Roger (Jan) Bockler of Washington, IL, one daughter, Rojene Page of Fort Myers, FL,3 grandchildren, Angela (Joseph) Olson of Elkhart, IL, Brian (Tina) Bockler of Ladera Ranch, CA, and Jamaisa Page of Fort Myers, FL, and 7 great-grandchildren, Margaret Olson, Elijah Olson, and Chloe Olson of Elkhart, IL, and Ethan Bockler, Stefan Bockler, Brayden Bockler, and Bryce Bockler, all of Ladera Ranch, CA.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Ann from 1-4 pm on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the Denhart’s Washington Room, 109 Washington Square, Washington.
