Obituary:
WASHINGTON – Ada Mae Hall, 89, of Washington, IL and formerly of Cahokia, IL, died at 11:50 AM Monday, July 27, 2009 at Washington Christian Village in Washington, IL. Born on March 9, 1920 in Naylor, MO to Henry Valentine and Mabel Ida Mae Smith Braun, she married Lawrence Oliver Hall on March 8, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death in January of 1993 in Belleville, IL. Surviving are 2 daughters, Charlotte (Mike) Curtis of Kearney, NE and Diana (Mike) Sluder of Washington, IL, 3 brothers, William Henry (Betty) Braun of St. Louis, MO, Arthur (Eileen) Braun of San Jose, CA, and Herman Braun of Creve Coeur, MO, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister, Ida Mae McClain. Ada worked for a Small Arms Plant in St. Louis during World War II. She also worked as a nurse at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis for many years. In later years, Ada worked as a church custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fairview Heights, IL. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Morton Ward and served as a worker in the Nauvoo Temple and the Chicago Temple for many years. Services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2530 N. Morton Avenue, Morton. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Bishop Scott Johnson will officiate. A graveside committal will be at 1 pm Friday, July 31, 2009 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
