Name: Bob Calkin Date: August 28th, 1928 - July 15th, 2009 Obituary: EAST PEORIA- Clarence “Bob” Calkin, 80, of East Peoria died at 10:45 AM on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Riverview Nursing Home in East Peoria. He was born on August 28, 1928 in Fisher, AR to Luke and Lucinda (Cash) Calkin. He married Patsy Martin on November 4, 1951 in Jonesboro, AR. She survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters Kay Hall of Peoria, Marilyn (Rick) Johnston of Tremont, and Stephanie Calkin of Florrissant, MO; 2 sons, Osro Calkin of East Peoria and Jim (Lori) Calkin of Canton, MI; Son-in-Law, Thomas Laird of Metamora; sister Mary Lou Payton of Jonesboro, AR; 2 brothers Will Calkin and Paul Calkin, both of Jonesboro, AR; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters Janet Laird, Susie Calkin, and infant daughter, Mary Rebecca Calkin; 9 brothers and sisters, and his parents. Bob worked as a farmer, was co-owner of Stinnett Window, worked at Lumberyard Supplier, and had worked for Siegle-Hunt Lumber and Lowe’s in East Peoria. He was an elder at Morton Church of Christ and was an Illinois Christian Camp board member. He will be loved and missed by his family and friends. A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria with an hour of visitation from prior to the service. Pastors Mike Hesterman and David Phillips will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Additional visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, July 17, also at the funeral home. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Morton Church of Christ.
