Obituary:
East Peoria- Douglas G. Easden, 81, of East Peoria died at 9:21 am on July 8, 2009 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on November 11, 1927 to George Richard and Isabel (Adams) Easden in High Wycombe, England. He married Arletta Schlyer on June 19, 1950 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on November 22, 1996. Survivors are 2 daughters Debra (Jerry) Bane and Lynn Easden, both of East Peoria; son Douglas G. Easden, Jr. of East Peoria; Brother Clifford (Joann) E. Easden of Groveland, IL; 2 sisters Isabel Cargill of East Peoria and K. Joan Wallace of Pekin; grandchildren Thomas (Jackie) Robertson of Peoria, Jeremy (Laura) Easden of Creve Coeur and Jessica Easden of East Peoria; and great-grandchild Abigail Easden. He was preceded in death by his parents. Douglas served as a clerk in the Royal Army Service Corp. until the end of WWII. He and a friend planned to go to Australia, but his friend died in the war. Since his stepfather’s home was in the United States he made his way to Vienna, IL in 1949. After getting a job at Caterpillar, he moved to Pekin. Shortly after, the rest of his family joined him. He worked as a machine operator and retired as a manufacturing supervisor in 1981 to spend more time with his wife. A graveside service for Douglas will be held at Fondulac cemetery in East Peoria at 12 noon on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Prior to the services, a visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 am at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Memorials may be made in Douglas’ name to the Children’s Hospital at OSF.
