Washington- Larry W. Belcher, 66, of Washington died at 6:35 PM on June 11, 2009 at his residence. He was born on October 3, 1942 to William and Evelyn (Thompson) Belcher in Peoria. He married Peggy Martin on May 3, 1990 in Eureka. She survives.
Other survivors are 2 daughters Doria (Bob) Young of Goodfield and Meredith McGinnis of York, NE; son Joe (Ricki) Belcher of Pekin; 2 sisters Jerri (Tom) Davis of Dunlap and Becky Fugit of Newport Richey, FL; brother Gary (Mary) Belcher, Bellingham, MA; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Larry worked at Caterpillar for 30 years, first in East Peoria and then the proving grounds, until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Washington, UAW, and was a past member of the Kennel Lake Sportsman’s Club. He loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, Cardinals baseball, and yard work. He will be missed by family and friends.
Cremation rites are being accorded at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Per the wishes of Larry’s family, services will be private. A public memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. Memorials in his name may be made to Passages Hospice.
