WASHINGTON- Virginia Rae Bland, 85, of Washington, died at 6:55 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She was born February 14, 1924 to Clarence and Florence Bunton Bennett. She married Ernest C. Bland on August 23, 1947 in East Peoria. He survives.
Other survivors are daughter Dianna (Shaun) Dwyer of Phoenix, AZ, son Ernest “Chuck” (Linda) C. Bland of Washington and granddaughter Lindsay Dwyer of Phoenix, AZ. Her parents preceded her in death.
Virginia was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She also was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in East Peoria.
Her life was devoted to her family and her greatest joy was the time she spent with them. She and Ernie spent many winters in Arizona enjoying the sunshine and watching their granddaughter grow up. She was a passionate Fenton collector, loved a rousing game of Bingo, and shopping trips with her girls. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Private services for Virginia were held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Rev. Don Burleson officiated. Burial was at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. There will be no public visitation or service.
