Griffin, Jr., 80, of East Peoria died at 11:54 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born July 26, 1928 in Crossville, TN to Sanders L. and Lula Mae Griffin. He married Carol Ann Maloney on June 30, 1956 in East Peoria. She survives. Other survivors are 2 sons Steve (Barbara) Griffin of Sherman, IL and Randy (Ana) Griffin of Peoria; daughter Barb (Brad) Langjahr of Peoria; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers. Sanders was a forklift operator at Caterpillar Manufacturing for over 30 years. He was also a member of Free Methodist Church in East Peoria for over 50 years. A service to celebrate Sanders’ life will be held at 10:00 AM at Free Methodist Church in East Peoria on Thursday, May 7, 2009. Pastor Steve Clason will officiate. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria on Wednesday May 6, 2009. Additional visitation will be held one half hour prior to the services on Thursday. Memorials may be made in Sanders’ name to his church or the American Diabetes Association.
