Washington- Mary Ann Burns, 68, of Washington passed away at 8:15 pm on Sunday April, 26, 2009 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born October 30, 1940 in Chicago to Earl and Lucille (Buckley) Fitzner. She married Raymond R. Burns on January 7, 1961 in Chicago. He survives.
Other survivors include her mother, Lucille Fitzner of Darrien; 2 daughters, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Bigelow of Troutdale, OR and Karen (Brian Doty) Saunders of East Peoria; 2 sons, Raymond E. (Lynette) Burns and Robert M. (Kathy) Burns both of Washington; 3 sisters Arlene (Robert) Bania of Orland Park, Theresa Delaney of Chicago Ridge and Barbara Fitzner of Chicago; brother Earl (Karen) Fitzner of Worth; 7 grandchildren , Cari Williams, Alexander and Nicholas Bigelow, Tiffany and Michelle Saunders, and Jacob and Tyler Burns and 2 great-grandchildren, Camaryn and Maysun Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mary Ann was an administrative assistant at Bradley University for 21 years before she retired and had been a member of the American Business Women Association for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She loved scrapbooking, traveling with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially Thursday night pizza.
A funeral mass for Mary Ann will be held on Friday May, 1, 2009 at 10 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father Joseph Donton will officiate. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will follow the services. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:45 PM.
