Kelso, 69, of East Peoria passed away at 8:55 AM on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Nov 12, 1939 in Deer Creek, IL to William and Leona Hayes Kelso, Sr., he married Dorothy M. Peckenpaugh on Nov 8, 1961 in Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 1 son, Marty Kelso of East Peoria, 1 daughter, Barbara (Tim) Gough of East Peoria; 3 grandsons, Nathan, Ben, and Matt Gough, all of East Peoria; 1 brother, Walter (Geri) Kelso, also of Potosi, MO; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His parents and 1 brother preceded him in death. He worked for School District #86 for 33 years before retiring in 1999, working as a custodian in maintenance, mainly at the junior high. He was a member of the Illini Muzzleloaders, Midwest Gun Collectors Association and the NRA. He was devoted to his family, especially his grandsons whom he loved attending their activities and sporting events. He also loved to participate in black powder shoots and rendezvous, as well as going for walks with his four-legged buddy, Murphy. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew him. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, March 25 at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
