Obituary:
Morton – George F. Bishop, 93, of Morton, formerly of East Peoria died on Monday June 18, 2012 at 12:35 PM at Morton Terrace in Morton. He was born on April 25, 1919 in Bath, IL to Willis A. and Catherine Malthia Bishop. He is survived by one daughter; Sandy (Earl) Cochran of Germantown Hills and one son; Dennis (Jan) Bishop of Hellertown, PA, six grandchildren; Carrie (Jamie) Mark of Basking Ridge, NJ, Chris (Cindy) Bishop of Manchester, NH, Stefani (Scott) Lindsey of Washington, IL, Matthew (Jeanene) Bishop of Brooklyn, NY, Tifani (Chad) Boettcher of Valparaiso, IN, Angela (Gino) Salveo of Red Bank, NJ and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion Evelyn Hodgkins. He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and one infant daughter, Donna. George served his country as a Corporal in the 14th Calvary Troop B in the US Army from 1937 – 1940. After his time in the service he worked for Peoria School District #150 as a Locksmith Foreman. He retired after 30 years of service in 1979. He loved to dance. He was especially fond of Square dance, Round Dance, and Ballroom dance. Other activities George enjoyed were fishing, bowling, playing cards, shooting pool, and especially spending quality time with his family. He had a very active life up until the last few years when his health began to fail him. There will be a memorial service at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria on Monday July 9, 2012 at 10 AM. Pastor John King will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
