WASHINGTON - J. Randy Stewart, 63, of Washington, IL died at 9:48 am Monday, April 30, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born on November 4, 1948 in Peoria to Howard W. and Blanche I. Wiggers Stewart, he married Julie Welch on February 9, 1990 in Peoria.
Randy was a dedicated father to his daughter, Hannah and his son, Micah, both of Washington. He is also survived by their mother, Julie (Dave) Stewart-Hays of Washington, 1 sister, Diedra (George) Adair of Pekin, 1 half-sister, Diane (Denny) Shepherd of Mesa, AZ, 1 nephew, Joab (Ashley) Dellinger and great-nephew, Max, all of Huntington, WV, and his extended Welch Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Randy received his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University and his master’s degree from Sangamon State University. He worked as a counselor for Fayette Companies Human Service Center in Peoria for over 30 years. Randy was a very spiritual man, teaching metaphysics and was a yoga instructor with Fondulac Park District. He was an avid sports fan, car enthusiast, and loved the gift of nature.
Funeral Services will be at 6:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor John N. Bates will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after services and private inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
